Groomed Pooches set to shine on catwalk

LumiDogs

Look out fashionistas and Vogue-esque dog owners, this Saturday Blackpool is looking forward to what can only be described as a canine spectacular. Dogs in couture will hit the catwalk dressed up to the nines in hand made costumes decorated with lights and other exciting what-nots at Jubilee Gardens, (Nr Gynn Square).

The word on the street is that there have been a number of free workshops held at Stanley Park and Fleetwood’s Memorial Park where dog owners have been able to create their own designs with professional artists for fido couture. This Saturday at Jubilee Gardens proud dog owners will be able to arrive at 12pm to finalise their designs, its all a bit like America’s Next Top Model but with less makeup and sometimes shorter legs.

Paparazzi have been in attendance at a number of the workshops with dogs and their owners being snapped getting in a flurry as they race to make their costumes count. So far there has been talk of Rocky Horror and Fame inspired outfits to name but a few. The dogs are excited as they get groomed within an inch of their lives, tails wagging and four legs flexing as they skip down the cat walk to get their chance to scoop the grand prize.

Some may say it’s barking, others woof-tastic. Whatever your take there is no denying, it’s curious and interesting. Be at Jubilee Gardens for the catwalk show from 7pm and your pet pooch could be in the running to be Blackpool’s LumiDogs Champion 2014.

The grand prize is a front cover with “Dogmopolitan” and contract with elite dog model agency “Doll Face Dogs”, (not really – that’s a fib). But there is an actual prize and its a good one: Vac4Life from Vets4Pets Warbreck (free booster vaccinations for the winning dogs life) and two mystery runner up prizes courtesy of Pets and Home.

The LumiDogs Fashion Parade takes place Saturday 20 September from 7pm at Jubilee Gardens, (Nr Gynn Square). For more information about LumiDogs 2014 visit the LeftCoast website at www.leftcoast.org.uk. You can also like them on Facebook or follow them on Twitter @LeftCoastUK.
