Preview: Love is in the air for the Showzam Carnival Ball

There’s plenty to love about 2015’s Showzam! Carnival Ball, which has ‘Romantics’ as its theme and is to be held on the most appropriate of romantic dates, February 14, at Blackpool Tower Ballroom.

It promises to be an unusual, exotic and glamorous evening of entertainment, say event organisers VisitBlackpool, as tickets go on sale for the annual event.

One of the highlights of the resort’s social calendar, the ball –  strictly for over 18s only – will be compered by one of London’s most loved and original hosts, Jonny Woo. After making his name on the New York club and burlesque scene, Jonny, has worked across London in The Soho Theatre, ICA and Bistrotheque, even creating events for The Royal Opera House, as well as MTV, Selfridges and many others.

Jonny is resident with Boom and Bang at The Hippodrome, London and has worked with them at The London Wonderground and Old Vic Tunnels.  Working extensively throughout Europe, he is currently touring his project Transformer, based on the Lou Reed album of the same name, and found time to open his own venue in London called The Glory, opening in December.

Tickets for the ball are priced at £20 per person and are on sale now from www.showzam.co.uk, the VisitBlackpool Tourist Information Centre on Blackpool Promenade (Tel: 01253 478222) or from The Blackpool Tower Box Office (Tel: 01253 622242).

There is limited seating available on the night, so it is advisable to get there as early as possible and guests are urged to book early for an event which is sure to be incredibly popular.

The Carnival Ball will provide the perfect start to a week of Showzam! entertainment which runs from 14-18 February.

Cllr Graham Cain, Blackpool Council’s cabinet member for tourism and leisure, said: “The Showzam! Carnival Ball is always one of the highlights of Blackpool’s calendar and is sure to be fantastic again this year. We’re lining up a range of unusual, exotic and glamorous acts for the evening and I can guarantee that it will be a fantastic night.

“I’m sure a pair of tickets for the ball would make an ideal stocking filler for anyone who loves a glamorous and fabulous night out.”

More acts will be announced for Carnival Ball over the coming weeks, so register at  www.showzam.co.uk to be the first to hear who will be appearing.
