Following the controversy caused by Penguin’s new cover for Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, we thought it might be fun to imagine our own book covers, with a distinctly Blackpool flavour. Dawn Mander set out across the town with her camera to capture some images which we think would happily grace the covers of these popular titles.

We love what Dawn has captured and we want to know – can you match her skills? AltBlackpool has teamed up with Blackpool Libraries to create a photography competition to find the best alternative book covers. The winning entries will be exhibited in Blackpool Libraries on National Libraries Day, 7 February 2015. Judging the entries is the curator of the 2014 Blackpool Pride exhibition, contemporary artist, Garth Gratrix.

In order to be considered please send your book cover image, along with the title and author of the book you have chosen, to: [email protected]

The closing date for entries is 31st December 2014. For full terms and conditions, please contact us at the email address above.
