Blackpool’s festive season has begun and the iconic Christmas Tree Ball is set to return to The Tower Ballroom on the 22nd December 2012 with a fantastic new line-up.
Top of the bill is godfather of funk, house and soul, Norman Jay MBE. Widely considered to be one of the most iconic DJs of our time, Norman was awarded his MBE in The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Birthday Honours List for services to music in a career spanning well over two decades. Famous for his eclectic musical tastes, ‘rare groove’ and his regular Good Times Sound System at the Notting Hill Carnival, he is sure to be a show-stopping crowd-pleaser.
Ten-piece local favourites, Touch the Pearl, will perform live on the night, bringing their uplifting style and funk beats to the ball. The band’s singer, Kev Schools, likens their ethos to their song, Have fun, go mad so it’s sure to be a highlight.
PBR Streetgang, a DJ duo, will be bringing their boogie boat to the party after a bumper 2012. They featured on Pete Tong’s 15 Minutes of Fame on BBC Radio 1 in November and enjoyed a residency at ‘We Love… party’ at Space (Ibiza). These lads have a bright future ahead of them. Made up of Bonar Bradberry and Tom Thorpe, their unique style blends ‘Paradise Garage disco’ into deep groovy house and tracky beats seamlessly, never failing to keep the crowd bouncing – make sure you grab yourself a spot at the front, it’s sure to be one hell of a set.
If that wasn’t enough in the way of top quality DJs for you, don’t despair! Also on the line-up are Pacha London’s resident DJs Shaun & Ellis. For a few years, Pacha London has been catering to the more discerning clubber with a selection of the best Balearic beats and resident DJs, Shaun & Ellis, are at the heart of the club, setting the trend in terms of music style. They are sure to wow when they visit Blackpool. Joining the Pacha residents are your local resident DJs for the night: Rick Napier, Lee Walls, Fez and Ric Porteus who for the past 15 years have been an integral part of Blackpool’s house music scene. Between them they have held residencies and have been responsible for promoting nights such as Federation, Blue, Fuzzy Logic, Bedd, Panorama!, 137, TOrN as well as playing for Cream at The Winter Gardens.
With a line-up of such caliber it’s sure to be an amazing night and the biggest Christmas Tree Ball on record.
