Congratulations go out to Lea Milesi aged 8, from Thames Primary Academy on winning the competition to design a poster for the upcoming production of The Dream in conjunction with the RSC.

As part of the RAC’s year-long season of events to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, The Dream is the children’s reimagining of Shakespeare’s magical play A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Playing their part in the celebrations, young people from nine schools across Blackpool have been preparing their performance of The Dream – which re-tells Shakespeare’s timeless story of magic, mischief and love.

As part of the experience, The RSC and The Grand Theatre wanted to teach the children every aspect of putting on a show from stage, to marketing and front of house, as well as the performance of the show itself. Each of the nine schools involved were asked to put their design skills to the test and create a poster to advertise the show. Lea is delighted to be announced as the winner of the competition and is thrilled to see her design up in Blackpool town centre.

The school’s taking part include Montgomery High School, Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Primary School, St Mary’s Catholic Academy, Park Community Academy, Marton Primary Academy and nursery, Anchorsholme Academy, Thames Primary Academy, St Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School, Mereside Primary School.

There are just two opportunities to see Blackpool school children perform The Dream on Tuesday 8 March. Tickets cost £6.50 and are available at blackpoolgrand.co.uk or via the box office on 01253 743339.
