There is no need for your child to be bored this coming half term holiday, as once again, The Mount Pavilion, Fleetwood, comes up trumps.
Free, fun and creative activities return to this beautiful building as it hosts a week of wonderment during May Spring Bank Holiday, starting on Saturday 28 May.
Workshops range from kaleidoscopes to paper kittens; this varied programme of children’s workshops will be an opportunity to be creative, not to be missed.
Kicking off the programme on Saturday 28 May from 1pm and 2.30pm is a Whippersnapper Photography Workshop giving kids the chance to learn the basic features and functions of a modern day camera and find out how to get that perfect shot. They can try their hand behind the lens with help from professional photographer, Jill Reidy. Children are encouraged to bring your own camera if possible but a limited selection will be available for loan on the day.
Aunty Social return on Monday 30 May from 1-4pm with their highly popular felt monsters. Create your very own scary monsters to take home, using pre- prepared patterns, googly eyes and felt. Be crafty and create some crazy creatures!
Tuesday 31 May sees the Mount host an Animal Book Folding Workshop. Kids can come and create their very own cheeky puppy complete with lead, or how about a cute kitten with a big bow all created from recycled books. What will you name your new pet?
Abstract Adventures abount with an art workshop on Wednesday 1 June. Explore new and exciting ways to make abstract art with this swirly twirly mark making workshop. With lots of different materials to experiment with, it may get a bit messy!
Show off your creative side and express those dance moves as Skool of Street bring it to the Mount on Thursday 2 June with their workshop on all things urban. Focusing on urban theatre, drama and hip hop dance, this will get you ready to hit the streets. Suitable for ages and abilities.
Inspired by the magic of the kaleidoscope, artist Angie Thompson invites you to play with pattern and watch colours collide on Friday 3 June. Explore the maths of mandalas, examine designs through the Skopeo kaleidoscope, and take home a wonderful artwork.
Be inspired by the seaside as kids explore colour-mixing, mark-making and collaging different materials to create colourful transparent artworks that come to life in the light. Join artist Michiko Fujii on Saturday 4 June in this cheerful exploration of colour, light, and transparency as he brightens up the Mount with our awesome artworks. A perfect way to colour in a grey or rainy day.
All of the sessions are free but donations are encouraged and have been organised by local arts organisation LeftCoast.
