St Annes independent booksellers Storytellers, Inc., are holding two exciting author events this summer.
As part of their Independent Booksellers Week programme they are delighted to welcome local author Carys Bray back to Storytellers, Inc. on Thursday 23 June. This will be followed by author Jessie Burton talking about her new book The Muse on Monday 11 July, 7.30 at The Pavillion Café, St Annes.
Carys will be introducing her new novel, The Museum of You, at a literary event with a difference. Guests will hop on board the Carys Bray Book Tour Bus and drive down to the seafront for a morning of books, bus-stops and biscuits!
All attendees will meet at the bookshop for coffee and some Biscoff-building fun, then Carys and her bus will collect guests at approximately 10.30am, returning back to the shop at 11.30am. Tickets are £10 and include the price of the hardback book.
Tickets must be booked in advance directly through their online shop or on 01253 781690 or by email [email protected].
Carys Bray’s debut collection Sweet Home won the Scott prize and selected stories were broadcast on BBC Radio Four Extra. Her first novel, A Song for Issy Bradley, was serialised on BBC Radio Four’s Book at Bedtime and was shortlisted for the Costa Book Awards, the Association of Mormon Letters Awards, the Waverton Good Read Award, the 15 Bytes Book Awards and the Desmond Elliott Prize. It won the Utah Book Award and the Authors’ Club Best First Novel Award and was selected for the 2015 Richard and Judy Summer Book Club. Her second novel The Museum of You will be published in June 2016. She is working on a third novel.
Storytellers, Inc. are thrilled that Jessie Burton, author of the million-copy bestseller, The Miniaturist will be introducing her new novel, The Muse in July to local audiences. Set in civil-war Spain and 60s London, it focuses on four heroines called Odelle Bastien, Olive Schloss, Teresa Robles and Marjorie Quick – and the story of the long-lost painting which connects them all. Copies of both novels will be available to purchase on the night.
Tickets are £10 and must be booked in advance on 01253 781690 or by email to [email protected] and can be purchased directly through their online shop.
In 2014 Jessie Burton published her first novel, The Miniaturist and she was profiled as a debut author in The Observer, and also appeared in the Guardian, the Sunday Times Culture and Style Magazines, the Evening Standard and the Telegraph. It was recommended in Stylist Magazine, Psychologies, Elle, Glamour, Vogue, Grazia, the Sunday Times and Harper’s Bazaar. It was a Sunday Times Top 10 for three months, Christmas no.1 in the UK, and a New York Times bestseller.
As a non-fiction writer, Jessie has written essays for the Wall Street Journal, The Independent, Vogue, Elle, Red magazine and The Spectator. Harpers Bazaar US and Stylist have published her short stories. Her next novel, The Muse, will be published in the UK on 30 June 2016 and in the US shortly after.
Tickets for both events are available from Storytellers, Inc., 7 The Crescent, St. Annes-on-Sea, Lancashire, FY8 1SN or by phone on 01253 781690
