Empress Ballroom Welcomes Slimefest

The Tide

Slimefest – does that work for you as a title for a cultural event? If it doesn’t then there’s a strong possibility that you are a bit too long in the tooth to attend. But for those who are fans of Nickelodeon TV or Nickelodeon Land at the Pleasure Beach, the latest news on this month’s event will go down a storm.

Launched in Australia in 2012, Nickelodeon’s Slimefest is a family music festival especially for kids aged between 4-15 years, featuring headline talent, DJs and a showground festival. The main feature of Slimefest UK is a pair of identical concerts on Saturday 3 September in the iconic Empress Ballroom at Blackpool Winter Gardens, starting at 11am and 5.30pm respectively.

It was already known that Diversity would be performing at the event, and members of dance group Jordan Banjo and Perri Kiely will be doubling up as hosts. Previous announcements have also included The Tide, a group who have recently being supporting The Vamps on tour. Stars of Nickelodeon’s hit series The Thundermans, Jack Griffo and Kira Kosarin will be at both shows plus YouTube vlogger Roxxsaurus will be taking part (her channel shows all the latest hair and make-up trends and has over one million subscribers).

In the last week it has also been announced that Alesha Dixon and Conor Maynard have been added to the confirmed list of artists. Alesha is a singer, dancer, rapper, model and television presenter, perhaps best known for winning Strictly Come Dancing, and then becoming a judge on this programme and more recently Britain’s Got Talent. Alesha will be performing her hits, including ‘The Boy Does Nothing’ and ‘Breathe Slow’. Conor Maynard is best known for his album Contrast, which was a number one in the UK in 2012. This moth, Conor issued an album of covers, including the work of Drake, Rihanna and Adele.

In addition to the two ticketed identical live shows, Slimefest also features a free outdoor experience including character appearances and family activities on the Tower Festival Headland on both Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 September.

Additional acts set to perform at Slimefest will be announced over the coming days, and footage from the live shows will be broadcast in a special programme on Nickelodeon on Friday, 9 September. Families can find out more about the event, the acts playing and enjoy Slimefest-related videos and games here.

Ticket prices for Slimefest begin at £25 for entry to a live show with all ticket holders receiving a free, unique drawstring-bag. Additional ticket packages include a guaranteed space at the Blackpool Illuminations Switch-On event on Friday, 2 September, admittance to Blackpool Pleasure Beach and to Nickelodeon Land.
Full ticket details are available at ticketmaster.
