When it comes to the arts me and Whitney Houston have something in common, we both believe (believed) that children are the future, and thankfully so does the Grand Theatre Blackpool.
This historic theatre, working in partnership with Blackpool and The Fylde College, is offering for the first time ever, 25 lucky youngsters the chance to see what goes on behind the curtains, back drops, scenic props and all the other stuff that make a visit to the theatre so magical. The dressing rooms, under the stage, the rigging, everything that comes together to produce shows that entertain and enlighten.
There will be industry professionals running interactive workshops in Set, Costume and Prop design, Puppetry, and Mask and Make-up. These will allow one-on-one learning which will let the next generation find out exactly how they did that!
This AAA – Access All Areas event, running in the October Half Term 2016, really is an exciting opportunity to find out what different jobs there are in a theatre and how they all work together to breath life into over 100 productions on stage every year.
If you know a child aged 11-16 years old, that loves the theatre, and you feel will benefit from this one off experience, then please contact Phill Fairhurst at the Grand Theatre, Blackpool or 01253 290111 to apply. Places are limited so don’t delay.
Taking part in AAA – Access All Areas will also gain you a Nationally recognised ‘Explore’ Arts Award
Now pass me my grease paint, switch on the light and tell the audience to be ready because, it’s show time!
