Storytellers Inc Home For Christmas

On the 12 December, three top young adult authors will be starring in a fabulously festive event at AKS School.

Storytellers, Inc… presents I’ll be Home for Christmas” brings authors Lisa Williamson, Katy Cannon and Julie Mayhew to the beautiful AKS venue for an evening of author talks and book signing, a Christmas quiz and charity raffle and a delicious menu of festive food from the AKS Catering team.

This event is to celebrate the publication of Stripes Publishing’s new compendium of Christmassy short stories and poems, “I’ll be Home for Christmas”, which brings together a fantastic line-up of award-winning authors all writing on the theme of home for Christmas. Stripes Publishing are donating £1 from each book to CRISIS homelessness charity, and all the authors donated their time and work for free. Proceeds from the raffle on the night will also go to Crisis. 

Lisa Williamson is the award-winning author of the ground-breaking YA novel, The Art of Being Normal (David Fickling Books, 2015), which won the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize and was shortlisted for the YA Book Prize and prestigious Branford Boase Award.

Katy Cannon’s YA debut was described as ‘The Breakfast Club meets The Great British Bake Off’,  Love, Lies and Lemons Pies (Little Tiger Press 2014)  include delicious recipes in each chapter, perfect for fans of Sarah Dessen and Louise Rennison. The follow-up, ‘Secrets, Schemes and Sewing Machines’ adds a sewing-bee spin to the characters’ next drama.

Julie Mayhew’s novels have been nominated and short-listed for numerous awards including the Branford Boase, Carnegie Medal and Peter’s Book Award. Her thought-provoking novel The Big Lie (Hot Key Books, 2015) which re-imagines the continuation of the Third Reich, won the Sidewise Award for Alternate History. Her most recent novel, Mother Tongue (Hot Key Books, 2016) has just been published to huge critical acclaim.  

Tickets are £7 and are available from Storytellers, Inc in store and online, as well as through the AKS school shop.
