Here at altBlackpool we know the local art and creative output we cover inspires you to take part in the rich and varied activities going on across the Fylde. Many of you may be pure consumers, but doubtless some of you produce artwork of some form for your own fulfilment. The Grundy are giving you a chance to exhibit hitherto unpublished works as part of the Blackpool Art Fayre in early 2017.
Alongside the open exhibition of Fylde residents’ work the gallery will be spotlighting two Blackpool-based arts organisations: the Blackpool Art Society and the recently formed Abingdon Studios. In addition there will be a selection of new acquisitions and old favourites drawn from the Grundy’s own collection and an exhibition of works by schoolchildren from across the Fylde Coast.
Cllr Luke Taylor, Lead Member for Arts on Blackpool Council, said: “I’m really looking forward to seeing the submissions that are sent over for the exhibition and I’m sure that we will discover some hidden artists who we can help bring their work into the public domain.”
The open call is available to all Fylde residents with an FY postcode. There is a nominal £5 entry fee for administration and a submission limit of only one artwork per artist to enable as many people as possible to be included. Prospective participants should contact the gallery for an entry form and register their interest at the earliest opportunity to avoid disappointment, the email address is [email protected] or alternatively telephone 01253 478170.
The open exhibition and the wider Blackpool Art Fayre will run from 28 January to 18 March 2017.
