Dust off those leg warmers (and the welding mask) because the toe tapping musical classic Flashdance is coming to town. The Winter Gardens is playing host to the stage hit of the classic 1980’s smash movie Flashdance, which if you remember the first time round was considered to be the dance version of Rocky.
The inspiring story of one woman’s struggle to turn from factory welder to queen of the dance is fondly remembered as one the high spots of 1980’s movies and I defy anyone to not sing along with an exaggerated passion to the Oscar winning theme tune What A Feeling. Indeed with its unrelenting soundtrack of power pop anthems and dazzling dance numbers Flashdance is a natural to translate from screen to stage and its monster success has been selling out theatres for years.
Join 18 year old Alex in her dream to break free from the chains of her working class factory job and join the prestigious Shipley Dance Academy, will she make it? Will she get and keep her man as her dreams take over? Well get your tickets and come and find out.
The show returns to the UK after a six year absence and Blackpool has got it. The mighty Selladoor Productions and Runaway Entertainment bring Flashdance to the Winter Gardens from 23 October to 4 November. Tickets are available from the usual outlets and will be selling fast so get yours soon, you’d be a maniac not to…
