Abingdon Studios Welcomes Artists For Residency Weekender

Abingdon Studios has paired up with UK Young Artists (UKYA), a thriving new arts organisation developing emerging artist aged 18-30 with national and international opportunities.

Together the studios and UKYA will host the first residency weekend in partnership with a view to explore new ways of working and collaborating longer term with schemes such as this for contemporary artists to come together and have time and space to explore new ideas.

The weekend will include a number of arts professionals presenting and sharing experience with the residency artists including Richard Smith, Curator, Peter Scott Gallery, Edinburgh based artist Andrew Gannon, award winning choreographer, Thomas Small and Lisbon based Curator,Claudio Zecchi. There will also be Abingdon Studios and UKYA directors supporting the weekend as well as further presentation by LeftCoast artistic director Michael Trainor.

Artist will enjoy Blackpool and at certain points invite the public to take a look at what there mini break away has helped develop. This Friday, the studios will open up to showcase work made in less than 3 hours and in response to the towns immediate culture. Refreshments will be provided as part of this open studios and there will also be opportunity to see works at Supercollider Contemporary Art Projects; currently located on the Upper Floor at Abingdon Studios.
