Car Share Gives Resort A Lift

Car Share 2

This March, Blackpool’s favourite garlic bread-loving comedian will be heading back to town, and this time, he’s coming by car!

Car Share was always likely to be a massive hit, given Peter Kay’s involvement, and when it arrived, the critical and public reception to the first series was hugely positive.  In March 2015, faithful followers were given a sneak preview in charity screenings at the Winter Gardens.  If you kicked yourself for missing the series 1 preview, you now have the chance to put that right.  Episodes from the upcoming second series of this classic British sitcom are given their first airing in the same venue on 31 March.

The sitcom relating the apparently mundane journeys to work of supermarket assistant manager John Redmond (Kay) and promotions assistant Kayleigh Kitson (Sian Gibson) was awarded a BAFTA and became the most watched box set on BBC iPlayer when available.  The action is largely confined to the front of a Fiat 500L, though daydreaming sequences invariably allow for some big musical productions.

The advance screening will benefit the Gordon Thorpe Appeal.  Thorpe’s family are seeking to raise £50,000 to help fund his life-changing treatment in Germany for pancreatic cancer.  Further information on 49 year-old Gordon and his battle can be found here.

In a twist on the first six episodes, the second series sees John and Kayleigh making separate commutes, and it will be interesting to see how the new dynamic of the interaction between them unfolds.

The event is bound to be a rapid sellout, so if you want to attend, be ready when tickets go on sale this Saturday at 9am.  The event starts at 8pm and tickets cost £15 each.  Maximum purchase is six and the all-important website address is wintergardensblackpool.co.uk

If you haven’t had the chance to catch Car Share, check out the season 1 preview here.
