Lioness back in Black(pool)

Emma Wright - Lioness

There are no shortage of tribute acts to Southgate’s finest, reflecting a distinctive persona and style.  But if you want to see an acclaimed Amy Winehouse tribute act from a locally trained artist get down to Viva this Friday.

Stars In Their Eyes finalist Emma Wright, aka ‘Lioness’, is bringing her stunning tribute to the late songstress to Blackpool for a one-off homecoming gig. Emma, who trained at the resort’s Scream Theatre School in Blackpool for eight years, has been touring the country for the past three months.  So far she has performed to over 4500 people.

Emma said “After being on a Tour of the UK we’re ready to bring it home again to our amazing local audience. Blackpool holds a really special place in my heart having trained there for many years and we can’t wait show the Viva crowd what we’ve got.”

Emma is joined by a full seven-piece band recreating the heady mix of jazz, soul and pop originally heard in 2003 debut ‘Frank’, 2006 Grammy Award winning ‘Back to Black’ and the posthumously released ‘Lioness’ in 2011.  They are hand picked to ensure an authentic Amy Winehouse sound.

Tickets for this Friday’s concert, which starts at 7.45pm, cost from £14.  They are available from vivablackpool.com, or by phoning the box office on 01253 297297.
