Blackpoolโ€™s packed with talent. I know this. You know this. And when the rest of the country gets to see something extraordinary in our seaside town, well, you canโ€™t help but feel just a little bit proud. However, knowing this wonโ€™t prepare you for when you see 8 year old Issy Simpson make a star turn on ITV tonight!

Saturday night favourite, Britainโ€™s Got Talent will be back on our screens and todayโ€™s episode will feature the extremely talented Blackpool magician. Issyโ€™s age makes her magic all the more astonishing, but that isnโ€™t what makes her act so great.ย  She combines effective, yet understated tricks to catch the judges off-guard and does so with relaxed and confident showmanship. ย If she hasn’t had her owl yet, than Hogwarts are missing a trick!

Issy is mad about reading and the mystic arts. She learned magic form her very own Dumbledore: her grandad. ย However it would seem that the student has surpassed the master as she becomes the youngest ever magician to feature on Britain’s Got Talent. ย Issyย loves school and says that ultimately her aim is to show other children how cool magic can be and to encourage others to take up the art of illusion. She also wants to inspire other children and show that no matter how young you are, if you believe and dream big enough, then anything really is possible. ย Her performance on Britain’s Got Talent was ultimately inspired by her passions, including a love for all things Harry Potter.

mathamagicalLiterary fans will also notice that local author, Colin Davies, gets a mention as one of Issyโ€™s favourites, alongside Enid Blyton and David Walliams.ย  Davies, author of childrenโ€™s books Mathamagical and Annagramaphobia, was delighted to see one of his fans on the trailers for this years show.

Davies said, โ€œI was stunned when i heard Issy was a fan. I think she’s brilliant and I so hope she makes the live finals. If she does, my phone bill is going to be massive.โ€

You’re not the only one Colin. ย We’re keeping our fingers crossed here at altBlackpool that she can magic her way to the finals in May. She’s already a star in our eyes! If you can’t wait until tonight to catch Issy, check out the preview below. ย Otherwise you can see her on Britain’s Got Talent, ITV from 8pm.
