The release date for the crowdfunded film Blackpool Through The Eyes Of Others has been put back to 30 October 2017, having previously been set as 31 July this year.

The film, which aims to highlight the creative and cultural scene in Blackpool, raised £7,510 in donations from 181 backers, both individuals and organisations, back in November 2014.

The Crowdfunder campaign was led by Mark “Chinny” Davis who runs the hugely popular and much missed Alfresco Festival, which originally took place at Blackpool Cricket Club until it moved to its new home in Royal Tunbridge Wells following the 2015 event. Also on the team was award-winning videographer and web designer Danny Gomez of Void Matter, who was set to undertake the filming and editing.

Speaking to altBlackpool today Mark told us: “Due to unforeseen circumstances in my private and business life the date has been put back in order to prioritise things.

“The project is still very alive but will need more time and money spent on it to show Blackpool in a creative light.”

Donations to the campaign ranged from individuals contributing £10 from their own pockets, right through to Blackpool & The Fylde College Student Union and Student Enrichment team giving £490 a piece and arts organisation LeftCoast putting £1,000 into the pot.

Speaking to the Blackpool Gazette in December 2016 Mark said: “The motivation behind the project is basically just being sick to death of the stereotypical image Blackpool gets shown in the media.

“There is a huge wealth of artistic talent and culture in the town that gets over looked and we aimed to show this to a wider, edgier audience.”

In a Facebook post originally made on 5 December 2016 the release date for the film had been set for the end of this month but has since been edited to include the new date in October.
