Photo Gallery: Young Magic Club photographers get loud in libraries

Young people from Blackpool’s Magic Club tried their hand at gig photography at the recent Penelope Isles gig at Blackpool Central Library.
Ahead of the show, the Get It Loud in Libraries Academy delivered a four-day programme for young people in Blackpool across the Easter holidays. Working through a Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award, young people from the Magic Club took part in GILIL Academy workshops with professional musicians, producers and creative managers to develop their live music presentation and journalism skills and aspiration.

Members of the Magic Club headed to Blackpool Central Library to volunteer at the Penelope Isles gig. This was the first time that any of the young people had been to a gig – what a show to get started on!  They took this opportunity to learn technical jobs such as operating the sound desk, front of house roles like welcoming gig goers and checking tickets. They also covered the event on social media and took the cracking photographs that you can see here. The young people had a brilliant day, experiencing live music in a relaxed and welcoming setting: we may have found the next generation of music promoters and photographers!

Photographers: Lola, Mackenzie, Brogan, Kayleigh (All aged 12-14 years).
