For local music lovers what could be better than a festival right on your doorstep? Well, that’s exactly what Rock The Dead Donkey Festival is offering. With a host of bands playing over three days, camping on site and a bargain price tag this is certainly a weekend of live music you won’t want to miss.

The festival will see Great Birchwood Country Park transformed into a live music paradise with all the action kicking off on Friday 10 May from 7pm and running right through until Sunday evening. For those planning to camp for the whole weekend the site has full facilities including toilet blocks and hot showers so you won’t have to give up all of your home comforts – a definite plus for the more discerning festival goer.

Kicking off the weekend on Friday evening will be live music from Laura Catlow, Brother Rabbit, The Jooles, Fight The Bear and The Full Fat Boogie Band, all rounded off with a DJ taking you late into the night.

Saturday’s music starts at 11am giving you ample time to shake off any bad heads from the night before and get yourself some breakfast. Once you’re ready to go you’ll be treated to live music from The People, Jonny’s Lunch Box, Higher Ground, Red Bank Road, The Versions, Happy Daize, Kudos, Rhys Alexander, Last Breath, The DeadBangers, Ska Light and Road Trip taking you right through until 1am. If by that time you aren’t ready to retreat to your tent you can carry on the festival feeling with a DJ set until who knows what time.

Just in case all those bands weren’t enough for you and you can handle some more, Sunday won’t fail to disappoint. The live music begins again at 11am with Jess Roberts followed by TC Allstars, Spiral Scouts, Idol Minds, Flaws, Deuces Wild and April Moon rounding off the weekend at 5pm.

Not only is the weekend giving you the chance to enjoy some fantastic live music, but all profits from the festival are being donated to Easterleigh Animal Sanctuary, Cancer Research UK and the Montgomery High School Tanzania expedition so you’ll be supporting three fantastic causes. With tickets at the bargain price of £5 per day, or just £25 per person for camping, and over 25 bands performing live this is definitely a weekend not to be missed.
