Preview: Charabanc Launch Weekend

Find shopping boring? Tired of living in a world of identikit high streets, all-the-same chain stores and corporate clones? Never fear – Charabanc is here! This unique store promises to offer a breath of fresh air to the world of retail therapy – and best of all, it’s right here in Blackpool.

You’ll find Charabanc set in the side of Blackpool’s iconic Winter Gardens, at 1 Olympia Buildings in Coronation Street. Admire the smart new frontage, then step right inside and be spoilt for choice.

Charabanc is Blackpool’s newest handmade boutique gift emporium, and it will be selling everything from hand crafted jewellery to custom furniture, home wares to artwork and everything in between. And everything is produced locally.

August Bank Holiday Weekend sees Charabanc open its doors to shoppers from across the Fylde Coast and beyond, giving an opportunity for you to pick up that perfect gift or, if you’re visiting, a souvenir with a difference to take back to your friends at home.

Established by local community arts organisation, Aunty Social, Charabanc aims to bring products produced by local designers and makers to the high street in this town centre location. As well as giving local designers and makers an opportunity to sell their wares in a prime location, Aunty Social is also raising much needed funds through the new venture, with all profits invested into providing low cost activities for residents.

Among the stockists you’ll find products from glass artist Colette Halstead, custom jewellery creator Yappers Chappers, screen print king Robin Ross and home wares specialist Squirrel & Tiffin – plus many more besides.

Charabanc will also boast a range of exclusive products based on images from the Winter Gardens Archive, profits from which will be donated to The Winter Gardens Trust to support the preservation of the fantastic Grade II Listed Building.

So drop in and browse the beautiful selection of hand-crafted items on offer – and grab yourself a bit of Blackpool.

Full list of stockists are Colette Halstead, Yappers Chappers, Robin Ross, Squirrel & Tiffin, Pretty In Punk, QuirkyLouby, Sarah Glasko, Old Fatty Jones, Urban Vagabond, Me&Yu, Elaine Whittle, Laura Brennan and Aunty Social. For more information about Aunty Social, visit  www.auntysocial.co.uk
