It’s panto time again! “Oh no it isn’t,” I hear you cry. Well actually, you’re right – because, to be more accurate, it’s panto LAUNCH time again. Wednesday 28 August is the date for your diary, and Stanley Park bandstand is the venue as the Grand Theatre launches its 2013 panto – Peter Pan.
Like those tempting pressies under the Christmas tree, the cast is still under wraps, though we can pass on a few tantalising clues. Taking the stage in this popular tale of the boy who never grew up are a top Emmerdale soap star, a favourite from BBC One’s The Voice, and a much loved local radio presenter. BBC Lancashire’s ever-popular Steve Royle is also in the cast.
All will be revealed at the bandstand from 1-3pm, with a host of free activities for all ages. There will be face painting, free giveaways, a caricaturist, a pirate ship bouncy castle and a chance to meet the cast of Peter Pan. Dress as a pirate or fairy and you’re in with a chance of winning a family ticket to the show.
The Grand is also running a competition on their Facebook page this week. Tag yourself in their image of Captain Hook for another chance to win a family ticket to see Peter Pan.
You’ll have to wait until December to see Peter Pan at the Grand, but it promises to offer fun for all the family. Watch this space for more details as the opening night approaches. Now, where did I put my eye patch?
