There is a new boy in town, setting up against all those girlie boutique clothes resellers. But how do you distinguish the ‘cool’ from the merely recycled? Vintage and retro are somewhat overused words and ideas of style. When did we all start wanting those quintessential rare pieces of clothing that never go out of style and are timeless? Where do we go for these magical items of rare clothing? Well, as a girl it’s pretty easy because most of the high street shops now regurgitate those classic items that perhaps the old skoolers (yes, that’s what I will call them, old skoolers) bought from faded charity shops or reclaimed from parents.
For the lads, it’s been a bit more difficult. That’s until Sean Blake turned up, new boy on the block, with the online men’s vintage clothes shop, Walk Clothing. I caught up with Sean to see what has inspired him.
What are your influences and inspiration for Walk Clothing?
Our shop will take inspiration from vintage clothing, retro clothing, Rock & Roll and Indie music culture. I have always liked clothes and my passion has spilled over to re-selling clothes and being able to spot what I think looks good. The market is saturated with female vintage inspired clothes and I found there was a gap in the market for good quality, affordable clothes and I wanted to share these with people.
What are your plans for Walk in the next six months?
I have had a busy six months and I am getting ready to launch Walk Clothing and really make the brand stand out. Our plan is to build our customer base with our online shop, increase our catalogue of clothes, and to start selling new clothes alongside the vintage items. We have already shot some quality images with some interesting photographers and we are getting really excited about the possibility of taking our wares to some festivals and other outdoor events where we can gain some further interest in what we are trying to do.
How can we view and buy your products?
Our clothing will be all available online at www.walkclothing.co.uk. Sign up before 26th August to receive your 10% off voucher code in your welcome email. Hopefully I will be covering some local markets and events. I am looking forward to collaborating with other creative types to really push what Walk Clothing stands for.
