One Of These Days Festival Postponed

Organisers of One Of These Days Festival, due to take place on the 8th and 9th of December at Blackpool Winter Gardens, have made a statement on their website explaining that the event has been cancelled due to an unexpected development with the structure of the business which has left them financially unable to deliver the event this year.

The full statement reads…

It is with sadness that we will not be proceeding with One of These Days as planned on Dec 8/9th 2012.

There was an unexpected development with the structure of the business which has left us financially unable to deliver the event to the level we wanted for 2012. All the guest curators have been very supportive and there is still a lot of goodwill for the event to happen.

We still are trying to work out a solution for 2013. All ticket buyers can get full face value tickets refunds from point of purchase.

The Blue Room, who had been organising a One Of These Days fringe event for the weekend also released a statement last Wednesday explaining that they would still be hosting bands on that night and that more details would be released soon.

The full statement reads…

Any acts we had booked for our One Of These Days Festival Fringe don’t panic, we are still going ahead with something on that weekend, just on on a smaller scale. We had known about the main festival running into a few small difficulties for a while however as far as we know it may be getting put back until 2013, we will then simply move the bigger fringe event back. In the meantime anyone who confirmed that weekend we are putting something on still. On the plus side our fringe event was kindly given a whopping grant by the arts council enabling us to book some rather special bigger bands for you all to play alongside, so bear with me a while whilst i wait to see whats happening.

While it is really disappointing to hear that the festival is not going ahead, it is encouraging to hear that they are working towards a solution for 2013 and that The Blue Room will still be providing some top quality entertainment that weekend. Here at altblackpool we’ve got our fingers crossed that the One Of These Days team manage to get things back on track and we’ll bring you the latest news about the event as we are able to.
