That’s what you call ‘B’ The Underwater Bubble Show, currently Showzaming along at The Blackpool Tower Circus Arena during February’s Showzam! festival of circus, magic and new variety. Supported by the Arts Council, England, the ‘B’ made its UK Premier on Friday 14 February.
It was a riot of rainbow lights and lasers, illuminating the Tower Circus ring and flooding the arena with world maps and underwater scenes. Colourful theatrical artistes performed within a veritable sea of misty fog and endless bubbles to the delight of giggling children and surprised adults. Dancing jellyfish and the emergence of a mammoth shark plunged the whole production deeper under the sea.
Meanwhile, snow cannons blew flakes of ‘snow’ around the arena, coating the audience in hilarity and harmless white froth. Periodic bursts of bubbles floated around the auditorium, delighting young and old in rounds of bubble catching.
Thematic dancing and acrobatics interspersed the bubbling, with an amazing purple lizard man who folded himself neatly into a small glass box! Just when it seemed there could be no more surprises, enormous white globes were thrown into the audience and rolled across a sea of hands up and down the auditorium to shrieks of joy.
All in all it was a magical experience, ending with a triumphant finale, the bubblefest! This production comes highly recommended for all ages.
