FYCreatives- Blackpool’s only dedicated creative industry business centre has teamed up with independent fashion label Me&Yu, to deliver a unique Pop-Up boutique to be installed at FYCreatives stylish premises on Church Street, Blackpool (near the Blue Room pub).
You may be thinking this is just another attempt at flogging clobber to goonies or perhaps calling a spade a diamond, but you would be ill advised to underestimate. With celebrity followers such as Mighty Boosh’s Noel Fielding and supermodel Agnes Deyn; Me&Yu are well positioned to deliver something truly wonderful and sufficiently alternative for Blackpool’s fashionistas.
Not only will the boutique showcase this ever growing brand, it will also house custom made products from 20 local designers and makers. All are talented, all are emerging and all are linked to Blackpool.
This event is a great showcase for Blackpool’s creativity and testament to its unique and continued vibrancy. Whether you understand or appreciate the term culture, it would be safe to say that the showcase as part of Me&FYC will fit the category of being pleasantly cultural, or maybe even go so far as to say stylish.
Adorning the hand made custom built shop fittings will be Ladies dresses, up-scaled vintage wears, menswear items, accessories, jewellery and some household items.
The boutique saw an early sales influx taking place at this years recent Under The Town Festival, which took place at The Grundy Art Gallery in early August, further justifying its presence in the fashion market today! This is a Pop-Up shop with not just profit in mind. This is about community, creativity and communication to the wider economy and each other. Me&FYC has aimed to support and showcase the local and to some extent underground creative markets (those who perhaps don’t have premises or start up finances) as a means to show larger retailers and interested parties that bespoke is sometimes best.
The greater aim of the Boutique would be to have an annual showcase of designer’s products either in ongoing Pop-Up branded events or feature in larger retail brand stores as local success stories and points of interests for customers. It’s time to place the independent maker in the path of locals and tourists alike.
So adventure into a degree of ‘touriosity’ this August and visit the Me&FYC Fashion Pop-Up boutique. You are guaranteed to take away something of interest whilst also embracing the fun, the funk, the bold and the beautiful of Blackpool.
The event does not start and end with a simple shop, oh no! There will also be some great evening events to help designers and makers be inspired and learn ways of getting out there in the big bad fashion world. Also there is an exclusive ‘Fashionable Evening’ being held Thursday 23rd August 6-8pm complete with FREE style consultations, hair, make-up tips, manicures and Champagne and Cupcakes.
Me&FYC doors open to the public from 9am August 17th. Launch Party with FREE drinks and live music August 17th 6-8pm. The boutique will be open until September 1st 2012. Opening times Mon-Saturday 9am-5pm. Cash ONLY purchases.
