Preview: DIY Publishing Workshop with Lisa Wigham – World Book Night

Celebrate World Book Night on Wednesday 23 April with Lisa Wigham‘s DIY Publishing workshop at Central Library.

Lisa Wigham is a local artist and founder of the Two  a.m. Press.  She says:
DIY Publishing has massive potential for writers, readers, artists, designers and creative’s of all kinds. I can show how to make a paper back book/ hard back novel/ catalogue/ album / zine or bespoke book.  I invite participants to bring their scribbles, printed texts, pictures or blank pages waiting for inspiration.  In this workshop ideas will be shared for the production and distribution of books and zines.
World Book Night is an annual celebration of reading and books, sharing of books, literary passions and ideas, giving books and encouraging those who have lost the love of reading – or are yet to gain it.  With the ever-increasing swarm of informative and entertaining media vying for our attention, it’s easy to overlook the humble book, a single-function device.  But anyone who has lost themselves between the covers of a well-written novel will understand that these modest flocks of paper are in fact doorways to entire worlds.  Now, imagine being able to set your own imagined world, however big or small, down between covers which you’ve created from scratch.  Your very own portal, with a design completely unique to you.  If that sounds enticing, this is a workshop you’ll not want to miss.
