Belgian-American Nils Westergrad is set to paint in Blackpool this weekend ahead of Sand, Sea & Spray 2015. Nils is flying in direct from Brussels and, in a coup for the town, it's his first time painting anywhere in the UK outside of London. Exhibition Celebrates Blackpool’s Lost Buildings

Throughout the past century, many iconic buildings have been destroyed as quickly as they were erected, leaving some to fade into the distant memories of Blackpool’s history. However, they have not been allowed to be totally forgotten. The Stanley Park Visitor Centre is currently host to a brilliant exhibition which celebrates the heritage of many buildings which may have been lost to demolition and explores the history surrounding them. The Art Foundation exhibition at Blackpool and Fylde College was displayed in a group of classrooms, down a staircase and a corridor or two, in the old building on Palatine Road. That said, there was plenty of bustle as bodies busied from room to room, families and friends ably guided around by the exhibitors. This exhibition at the Galleon Coffee Bar runs until the end of the month and it is well worth a visit. Unusually, the photographer's social media presence is limited to Instagram, but what a following she has on there and you can see why. Sand, Sea & Spray is happening from 10 to 12 July and the preparations are well under way. With the majority of funding already secured to bring this spectacle of urban art back to our streets, the team are asking for a final push from their supporters. They need an extra £1,000 to cover the costs of equipment hire: ladders, cherry pickers and scaffolding.
