Not so much in the vain of zoot suits and mobster guns, nor even having the salute of a gangster rap on the door down to the craps game. Blackpool Speakeasy is a new means of sharing ideas and having niche conversations together in an experimental monthly event aimed at local people, by local people.
So if you would like to prove yourself more of a hit, than a cowardly custard and have any new interest ideas for a discussion theme Blackpool Speakeasy could be whispering your name right now. Independent thought and lifelong learning are key factors of Speakeasy which aims to stimulate curiosity on the Fylde Coast.
Up and running since summer 2016 Speakeasy has already become established through word of mouth and has hosted discussions on ‘The Art of Walking’ and ‘Clicktivism vs the Facebook Youth’ among others. Designed to be a laid back and relaxed atmosphere Speakeasy aims to give people a space to consider ideas collectively.
The next discussion on Wednesday 9 November from 7-8pm at Raikes Hall Pub examines the ‘Social Psychology of Relationships’ posing the question whether there is anything in the world more important than our relationships and what factors affect the way we control them.
Keep it hush, the password, it’s at the door.. Speakeasy.
