Blackpool’s Cinderella Pantomime Set To Wow Festive Crowds

Look no further for your festive family entertainment treat than Blackpool’s Cinderella pantomime at the breathtaking Grand Theatre, one of the resort’s gems and one of the last surviving ‘Matcham’ playhouses. All stops have been pulled out to bring you a glittering show with a brilliant cast that is raring to go.

Star of boy band Union J, The X Factor and former jockey for the Queen’s horses, JJ Hamblett, will join Olivia Birchenough of Channel 5 ‘Milkshake’ fame as Prince Charming and Cinderella respectively. Blackpool’s Cinderella would not be complete without Radio Lancashire’s legendary Steve Royle as Buttons, back for his 15th year. Melanie Walters of Gavin and Stacey fame will play the fairy godmother. For the necessary touch of evil, Jamie Morris and Tarot Joseph take the ugly sisters’ role (boo, hiss). These last two played the sisters in 2012/13 and I can vouch were a scream.

The production will also feature the gorgeous and adorable Shetland ponies live on stage. Also the magnificent Barbara Jackson Theatre Arts Centre dancers. With all this, a classic ‘rags to riches’ story line, sumptuous costumes, effects, jeopardy and hilarity, what’s not to like? Blackpool’s Cinderella will be a highlight of the festive season for all I would say, if you can get tickets now selling fast.

Marketing Manager Andrew Howard said:

“The pantomime season can’t come around fast enough for us all at The Grand and with such a stellar line-up we’ll be hoping for another record-breaking year. Putting on the panto takes a lot of hard work but it’s an incredibly rewarding experience seeing the magic it brings to so many children at Christmas time.

Following last year’s incredible pantomime, Aladdin, Blackpool audiences are guaranteed another year of spectacular sets, dazzling costumes and side-splitting comedy. Book your seats today, otherwise not even your Fairy Godmother will be able to magic you a ticket to see Blackpool’s must-see Christmas show.”

Cinderella plays at Blackpool Grand Theatre from Tuesday 5 December 2017 to Sunday 7 January 2018. Tickets are available from blackpoolgrand.co.uk or by calling the box office on 01253 290190.

I have worked in the housing and transport professions for several local authorities, specialising in policy, strategy preparation and bid writing. Having always had an interest in film, the visual arts in general, theatre, music and lterature, I thought it would be good to combine the writing experience with these interests to contribute to altBlackpool. In addition to writing, my hobbies include watercolour and pastel painting, photography, woodwork, cycling and vegetable gardening.
