Blackpool Grand Theatre and Bor Productions are setting out with two brand new shows to entertain the crowds this summer.

‘Ooh La La’ and ‘Step Back in Time’ are a celebration of variety, the sort of show ‘Blackpool hasn’t seen in 30 years’. The words ‘Blackpool’ and ‘Variety’ evoke a wanting for the golden years of Blackpool, as showcased in recent BBC documentary ‘Blackpool’s Big night out’, which showed the glamour, the class and the excitement of ‘doing the circuit’ in Blackpool.

Appropriately enough, Legends of the Blackpool circuit, Cannon and Ball are hosting both shows and are excited to be back involved in their first variety show in 30 years; ‘Without disrespect to the great talent and shows Blackpool hosts already, this is the type of show Blackpool is lacking’.

Bor productions, the brains behind both shows, is a team consisting of husband, wife and son, all with their own talent and passion for showbiz, Originating in France, Steve Bor (senior) comes from a circus family and performed as a juggling act in Blackpool on the Keith Harris show back in 1984, Kim Bor is a dancer and choreographer. Their son, Steven (junior) started his career singing, songwriting and playing guitar, he’s also performed on stage in the west end; This combination makes for a couple of shows that promise excitement, great music, dancing and great comedy; while Ooh La La and Step Back In Time seem similar, they both bring something different to the audience and as Steven suggests, Ooh La La is a little ‘something for the weekend’.

Step Back in Time is a celebration of musical legends, with well known songs you can sing along to (and dance in the aisles, as encouraged in the brochure) performed by the young but experienced cast and accompanied by Cannon and Ball’s old school humour.

Ooh La La promises class, glamour and sex appeal, a French burlesque revue complete with elegant twisty, bendy aerial contortionist Emilia Arata; Katie shepherd who makes her British debut with the show, Vegas Juggler Romani Frediani and Cuban Oneil Reyes a circus performer with amazing strength.

I always look forward to visiting the Grand Theatre and will also look forward to Ooh La La and Step Back In Time and I hope that it gets the support it deserves. Blackpool has always been synonymous with great entertainment and with these two productions and the host of other shows in town, this season should be a good one.

Step back in time starts from Tuesday the 23rd of and will run Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturdays. Ooh La La starts from Thursday the 1st of August, Friday to Sunday until the 7th of September.

Tickets and information is available online from www.blackpoolgrand.co.uk, over the phone (01253) 743346, or in person at the Theatre Box Office.
