Clockwork Events with DJ Oli Frances

Last Saturday I attended The Clockwork Event at Scrooges Bar, Blackpool. I caught up with organisers to find out more about what they have to offer.

Q: Tell us a little bit about you and what your new night is all about.

a: I’m a 24 year old DJ/producer from Blackpool, signed to numerous labels around Europe and recently signed by an artist management team. My new project, Clockwork Events, was created so a group of my mates could host parties on a monthly basis around the UK. With more nights planned in Blackpool and Leeds for the rest of 2013.

Q: What can we expect from the night and how often is it on?

a: When you come to a Clockwork Event you can expect underground house music from hand-picked, educated DJs with residencies from the likes of Yannis, Al Leahy, Jon Macleod & Ric Smith and you can expect the occasional guest booking. Clockwork events will be hosted on a monthly basis.

Q: Who will be playing at the events?

a: At the Clockwork Events you will get a selected choice of all house aspects with the residents. We aim to give the clubber the full effect and not just the music but the correct venue choice and time.

Q: What are your musical influences?

a: My musical influences vary from the old dogs like Derrick Carter , DJ Sneak, Laurent Garnier, Mr G and some new era DJs that have influenced me,  like Kris Wadsworth, Milton Jackson, Brawther and Huneee.

Q: When is the next event?

a: The next Clockwork Event is in the process now, aiming for the 30th November at Scrooges top bar.

If you haven’t already been in the top bar at Scrooges you are in for treat. The set up is a converted attic space with plenty of atmosphere and, best of all, affordable drinks. The sound system is good and there is plenty of dance floor and seating. If you get a chance to go, it’s yet another excellent opportunity to support local musicians and businesses. As the season to be jolly approaches, its well worth a visit. Oli’s Clockwork night was jammed with good music in an excellent space. We will look forward to attending many more successful nights.
