Blackpool Council’s Arts Service is currently recruiting for two paid work experience placements. One of these will focus on literature, lasting for six months, and the other will focus on dance lasting for three months. We are looking for a young person aged 16-19 to work five hours per week, during the day, in the evening and, occasionally, on weekends, paid at £5 per hour.
Dance Placement – February – April 2014
You will shadow the Dance Development Officer, planning and delivering dance projects and events, working with dance teachers and choreographers and learning more about project management and marketing. Projects include a Careers Advice Tour with professional dance artists and the Fylde Coast Youth Dance Company.
We are looking for someone who has an interest in dance and is keen to learn more about the dance industry and the variety of careers on offer. We want someone who is organised, dedicated, passionate about dance and enthusiastic about promoting these fantastic opportunities in different ways, including writing for the dance blog (training provided).
Literature Placement – February – July 2014
You will work within the Arts Service and Libraries Teams, supporting in the planning and delivery of the Shakespeare Festival in April 2014 and Wordpool Festival in July 2014. We are looking for someone who is flexible and organised, has a passion for sharing literature and is interested in pursuing a career in the cultural sector. You would need to have some time available during the festivals – Shakespeare (23, 24, 25 and 26 April) and Wordpool (2, 3, 4and 5 July).
Deadline – Monday 6 January – 12noon. Successful candidates will be notified of their interview on Wednesday 8 January 2013. Interviews are scheduled to be held on Tuesday 14 January 2013 from 4.00pm onwards.
