Thursday 6th July 2023 and once more I finished work and made the 18:08 bus down to The Hive for Amanda Aiton's excellent digital photography exhibition. Afterwards we had a quick chat about using film, a whole new world of photography for her. Mostly of the natural world and creatures around Blackpool, these pictures are beautifully composed and framed. Where black and white has been employed, the contrast is spot on; where colour, the images are vibrant. The images have a distinct otherworldly quality. These would grace any wall. Following Robin's excellent recent exhibition of screen prints at the Tea Amantes gallery, I was keen to see how his work had moved on from this relatively recent event. The work did not disappoint, being varied in both subject and scale. It also reflects Robin's recent travels, providing new subjects. I had a number of reasons for this little trip to town on 12th November. Dropping into the Hive Arts Collective gathering, joining the Tea Amantes tea room and gallery team for its first birthday celebration and shooting a roll of 120 film, because I like to do that. For a change, these all came to pass and it was a thoroughly nice time, and I got some decent photos. There was a good gathering at The Hive for the gathering.
